DIAGNOSTICS
Moisture-infused lint acts as a contaminant and conductor when it accumulates on electronic components. The fibers themselves are porous and readily absorb ambient humidity. Once damp, the lint creates a microenvironment where electrolytic reactions can occur:
• Moisture retention: Lint traps water molecules against the component surface.
• Electrolytic corrosion: In the presence of voltage potential, the absorbed moisture facilitates ion migration, leading to oxidation of metal contacts, solder joints, or exposed traces.
• Accelerated degradation: Corrosion weakens conductive paths, increases resistance, and can cause intermittent or permanent open circuits.
• Premature failure: The component fails earlier than expected because the corrosion undermines its electrical and mechanical integrity.
Parts requisition:
We are currently sourcing the required parts to complete the repair. Once all components are secured, we will proceed with the remaining work and provide an updated timeline.
